About A.S. Handover

A.S. Handover founded this establishment in 1949, selling decorators brushes from a small hayloft in Highgate Village, London. His business boomed, fueled by the demand for brushes in a London that was still being rebuilt after the Second World War. Soon after, the firm began making specialist high-quality brushes for graphic artists, poster writers, sign writers, animation studios and advertising companies The firm has steadily grown over the years to become the widely recognised expert store it is today. In addition to produce from their workshop, they stock a comprehensive range of decorating tools and brushes, scumble glazes, signwriting enamels, varnishes, french polishes, universal strainers, pigments and artists’ oil colours, water-colours and acrylics. They are also one of the UK’s foremost suppliers of of gold leaf and other gilding supplies. Their products are used by the country’s finest craftsmen in museums, film studios, stately homes and the Houses of Parliament. They count the Royal Household at Buckingham Palace among their patrons. They are a Royal Warrant Holder by appointment to Her Majesty the Queen as Suppliers of Brushes, Paints and Gilding Equipment.
