Spink & Son

Listique’s Recommendation

We love businesses with interesting histories, and Spink & Son are certainly one of these. These auctioneers are so old that they were forced to temporarily relocate because of the Great Fire of London. In business for over four centuries, their expert staff specialise in highly collectible items, many of which have histories even longer than Spink. Spink is arguably the world’s premier collectables auction house. We’d recommend Spink to discerning collectors or specialised investors.

About Spink & Son

A Mr John Spink founded a goldsmiths and pawnbrokers near Lombard Street in the time of King Charles II. Over the years, the firm gravitated towards selling jewelry and coins, and began to deal in oriental art in the 1850s. Today, Spink’s auctions attract a huge variety of buyers, ranging from overseas investors to passionate private collectors. Spink attracts buyers from every country, in particular China, India and America. They continue to uphold a long tradition of expertise and client service. They claim that “no-one else in the field of collectibles offers such a broad range of services to the collector or to those seeking advice on disposing of single items or a collection.” Although this may be a bold statement, it is also an accurate one. Spink truly is the epicentre of the global collectibles market.
